Mrs. DeHart challenged her students to determine the color of each square on the grid keepers grid by asking the least number of questions possible. Students had productive struggle initially and eventually used their critical thinking skills to solve the grid keepers grid. They had a lot of fun!
Integration of Music and Physical Education in Sixth Grade
In an innovative approach to education, sixth-grade students are engaging in a unique program that combines the disciplines of music and physical education. This interdisciplinary initiative allows students to explore the concept of rhythm through the dynamic activity of bouncing basketballs.
As students participate in this program, they not only develop their physical skills through basketball but also enhance their understanding of musical rhythms. By synchronizing their dribbling with rhythmic patterns, they experience firsthand how music can influence movement and vice versa. This creative fusion encourages teamwork and collaboration, as students work together to create a rhythmic performance that showcases their combined talents.
Through this engaging activity, students are discovering the profound connection between music and physical movement, fostering a deeper appreciation for both art forms while promoting a healthy, active lifestyle. This program exemplifies how education can transcend traditional boundaries, offering students a holistic learning experience that nurtures their creativity and physical abilities simultaneously.
Ridgeway students are World Changers! Students in each grade level come up with a project that student create and sell to donate the profits to organizations all around the world. Recently 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders made rocks, notebooks, and stickers to sell and were recognized by TV Hamilton. This is one way of Ridgeway being world changers. Students individually have the opportunity to do good in their neighborhoods, communities, and world by performing a good deed and writing about it. Students then share their good deeds with Mrs. Wagonfield and get their picture taken to put on our World Changer Wall.
TV Hamilton did a special on all the good things happening at RW! Check it out!

Students all across Ridgeway have been learning about and celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Students in Mrs. Baker's 3rd grade class read Martin’s Big Words and shared their thinking with graffiti writing. They each wrote a response on several shared anchor charts. Students were able to move, collaborate, and have thorough discussions with each other. Afterwards, students worked on a RACE response detailing why Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a great and heroic leader.
